The Swipe That Started It All
Our story begins the way all modern love stories do: on a dating app. Shoutout to Hinge, the unexpected wingman that tried twice to bring us together. We matched two times while living outside each other’s radius, which we now know was not a glitch. It was God quietly orchestrating the timing.
We finally met in July 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. Masks on, world paused. Phil chose the first-date location, perfect for him: a beer garden playing a soccer match. Very on brand. Halfway through the date, Daniela got bold and pulled his mask down. Pandemic rules bent, chemistry undeniable.
What started as a casual meet-up turned into hours of talking, wandering, and discovering DC together.

From that day on, DC became our place. We made it our mission to explore every aesthetic, delicious, cocktail-worthy restaurant and bar the city had to offer.
Our relationship began with a simple, low-pressure phrase, “We’ll see where this goes.” Turns out, it went everywhere.

Miles, Faith, and Choosing Each Other
In late 2021, Phil moved to Dallas, Texas, and we took a leap of faith into long distance. It was not easy. We had ups, downs, airport goodbyes, and many miles between us.
No matter the distance, we always found our way back to each other. In 2023, Phil moved back to DC, turning long distance from states apart into the classic VA-to-DC commute.

We have traveled together, grown together, and learned from each other. We share a love for travel, dining, cocktails, wineries, hiking, and long walks that somehow turn into deep conversations.
With each passing year, our love and appreciation for one another has only grown stronger.

In 2025, Phil moved to Virginia, officially landing just 20 minutes away. And then came the proposal.

At a winery, because of course, it felt completely normal. Getting ready, dressing up, and heading out was part of our routine, which made Daniela genuinely surprised.
Phil followed every request to a T. Waiting there were her parents, brothers, her cousin and now Maid of Honor who traveled all the way from Honduras, and Phil’s mom. It was intimate, intentional, and perfectly us. God’s timing could not have been more perfect.

And now, here we are, getting married in Honduras, where Daniela is from, surrounded by friends and family who mean the world to us.
From swipes to miles, from far apart to finally close, we have made God the center of our relationship as we dream of building a family, traveling the world, and creating a life rooted in faith, love, and joy.
What started with a swipe became a forever, and we cannot wait to celebrate it with you.
